Resources & Outreach
Outreach Services:
Rosewood provides a variety of outreach services and support to the community. A number of non-profit organizations utilize meeting space at Rosewood on a monthly basis.
The ROSE Program
In partnership with BC Housing and the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Rosewood also offers the ROSE program – an outreach program for seniors who live independently in the Towers behind Rosewood Manor.
The Goals of the Program are simple
• Reduce unnecessary visits to the ER
• Promote aging in place
• Helping people to remain independent as long as possibleThe Program also strives to meet the needs that were identified in an initial tenant survey, like nutritional support, creating a sense of community and combating isolation.
The Partners:
- BC housing provides a 1 bedroom suite on the ground floor which is the Outreach program office and is open Monday to Friday — 9:30 to 4:00 pm for tenants to drop in. BC Housing also reconstructed an underutilized social room to accommodate the daily meal. Social programs take place in each building to encourage tenants to access services in both buildings thus creating a stronger sense of community.
- Richmond Health Services, under Vancouver Coastal Health, provides the operational funding.
- Rosewood Manor provided staff which includes:
- full scope LPNs who job share the position. There are also 6 permanent part time Assisted Living Workers and 1 part time person doing clerical work.
The Program has been very successful and has measurably and drastically reduced the number of admissions to the Emergency Room by people who occupy those buildings.
