Frequently Asked Questions

Rosewood Manor is a licensed long term care home that provides nursing care for 156 individuals with a variety of complex care needs. Residents who reside at Rosewood Manor are no longer able to live independently in the community.  Rosewood Manor also provides meals, laundry, and housekeeping services as well as recreation and allied health services. 

Rosewood Manor is a non-for-profit care home governed by the Richmond Intermediate Care Society. Most of the operating expenses are funded by Vancouver Coastal Health and the remaining costs and capital projects are funded by the Rosewood Manor Care Foundation.

All of the rooms at Rosewood Manor are private rooms.

Each room comes with a two-piece ensuite bathroom.

Rooms are furnished with an electric bed, a dresser, a nightstand with a lockable drawer, a table and a chair. We encourage our residents to decorate their rooms with personal possessions such as photos, artwork, and other items to make their room unique to them. 

Room furnishings must not impede care tasks and create safety risks, any items wishing to be brought in must be approved by Rosewood Manor staff.

All publicly funded/ subsidized admissions to Rosewood Manor are handled by Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH) Priority Access Team. Residents must be assessed by a case manager at VCH to determine if they meet the eligibility criteria for Long Term Care. For privately funded admissions, Rosewood Manor managers the waitlist. Inquires can be made to the Care Department leadership team (Director of Care or Clinical Practice Manager).

For publicly funded/ subsidized admissions, the provincial government sets a monthly rate based on income. The calculated rate is based on 80% of the individual’s annual after-tax income, subject to minimum and maximum rates. The rate can be determined by the individual’s VCH case manager.

For privately funded admissions, the current rate as of January 2024 is $315.00 per day. 

A trust/ comfort account is set up for each individual who moves into Rosewood Manor. The purpose of this account is to make small internal payments for services such as hair dressing, podiatry, guest meals, small purchases, resident events and small cash withdrawals. The account statement is issued every other month from the Accounting Department. 

There are no restrictions on visiting hours at Rosewood Manor. Visitors are welcome to come and go as long as they respect the care home needs for privacy and quietness at certain times. 

Visitors are not allowed to stay overnight, however exceptions may be made for end of life or if the resident is critically ill.

Well behaved leashed pets are allowed to visit in the resident’s room and common areas, except for food services areas.

2 hours of free parking is located at the front parking lot along Blundell Road; in front of the “East Building”.

For visits exceeding 2 hours, pay parking is available at the rear of Rosewood Manor located at the “South Entrance”.

All vehicles must be registered, including free and pay parking. 

Rosewood Manor complies with VCH’s non-smoking policy. Visitors, residents and staff may not smoke anywhere in the building. 

Rosewood Manor has 3 outdoor courtyards available for residents to utilize. Each of the courtyards are enclosed to maintain safety for residents, staff and visitors. The courtyards are open as long as weather is permitting. 

Many residents who live at Rosewood Manor have some degree of Dementia. Staff are trained in Dementia Care and Rosewood Manor has adapted the philosophy of DementiAbility in creating a supportive space for individuals living with Dementia.

Rosewood Manor has a 36-bed Special Care Unit for individuals who may need further assistance and safety measures.
